Rediscover Your Role: Embrace the Joy of Connection at The Grove

We understand that contemplating a transition for your loved one to a senior living community can bring about feelings of guilt and uncertainty. However, retirement communities, including memory care, are not ‘nursing homes’.

At The Grove, we want to assure you that making this decision is not only an opportunity for your loved one. It’s also a chance for you to reclaim your role as a daughter, son, or family member – without the overwhelming responsibilities of caregiving.

Think of joining our community as sending your loved one to ‘Golden College’ for their golden years. Here, they will discover a vibrant lifestyle filled with engaging activities, delicious meals prepared by our onsite chefs and the chance to forge new friendships – all whilst enjoying the comfort of their own private apartment. Our all-inclusive community is designed to enhance independence while providing the support and care they need, when they need it.

By choosing The Grove, you can rest assured that your loved one will thrive here; allowing you to focus on what truly matters – enjoying precious and meaningful moments together without the strain of senior caregiving.

Let us help you explore this enriching path forward for your family. We would love to answer any questions you may have and guide you through the benefits of living in our community. Feel free to reach out to us here.

Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Walk to End Alzheimer’s Highlights from The Grove & Oakleaf Village of Columbus and Toledo

Last month, Wallick Senior Living communities – The Grove & Oakleaf Village of Columbus and The Grove & Oakleaf Village of Toledo – came together for a cause close to our hearts and the lives of our memory care residents and their families.

Each community took part in their local Walk to End Alzheimer’s, organized by the Alzheimer’s Association. We’re excited to share their achievements, especially as we honor National Family Caregivers Month this November!

The Grove and Oakleaf Village of Sylvania Fundraise $2,600 to Fight Alzheimer’s

Last month, The Grove and Oakleaf Village of Sylvania participated in Toledo’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in the Glass City Metropark. Oakleaf team members Diane Doneghy, Executive Director; Heather Evans, Assistant Executive Director; Danielle Ballesteros, Program Director; Roland Duran, Senior Living Advisor; and Jodi Gryca, Activities Assistant, proudly represented Wallick Senior Living.

Families of current and past residents stopped by Team Oakleaf’s cabana – a reward for being one of the top 10 fundraising teams, having raised $1,000 before the earlier fundraising deadline.

Fundraising efforts didn’t stop there!  Earlier this year, The Grove hosted a Sylvania Campus Walk supported by Toledo’s Whitmer High School Volleyball Program. The Grove residents enjoyed spending time with Whitmer volunteers and their family members outside on a beautiful day. The event featured fun activities like snow cones, a bake sale, cotton candy, t-shirts, dunk tanks, food trucks, entertainment, and a photo booth!

All proceeds from both events went to the Alzheimer’s Association, raising a total of $2,618.70 for critical research.

The Grove and Oakleaf Village of Columbus Sponsor the Columbus Walk to End Alzheimer’s

In Columbus, Wallick Senior Living proudly sponsored the Columbus Walk to End Alzheimer’s. We’re thrilled to share that the event not only surpassed its original goal of raising $900,000 for Alzheimer’s research — it exceeded the new goal of $1,000,000!

Representing Wallick at the walk were Senior Living Advisors Tasha Simmons from The Ashford of Grove City, Sherri Wamsley from The Grove at Oakleaf Village of Columbus, and Bethany Watts, Regional Senior Living Advisor. These two communities were honored to support the Alzheimer’s Association as they further Wallick’s mission by leading the industry with assisted living Medicaid waiver-certified beds in Memory Care.

November is National Family Caregivers Month! Here’s a glimpse at some Fast Facts:

According to the Alzheimer’s Association:

  • There are over 11 million unpaid dementia caregivers in the U.S.

  • In 2023, caregivers provided 18.4 billion hours of care.

  • 70% say coordinating care is stressful; 74% are concerned about their own health.

A sincere thank you to our residents, family members, and teams at Oakleaf Village and The Grove for working to spread awareness, fundraise and make a meaningful difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s.
